Kutch
Location: Kutch is located at the western coast of India in the state of Gujarat.
A landscape with salty marshlands and no vegetation. This district of Gujarat has rugged and fiery beauty. The tortoise shaped land is flat and dry but the villages dotted throughout the dramatic, inhospitable landscape feel like pre partition Pakistan and the tribal villagers produce some of India's finest folk textiles, glittering with exquisite embroidery and mirror work. The climate is always wet and dry and it is literally doused under water during the rains. Kutch is second most largest district in India after Leh. Tourism activities are desert safaris by jeep, camel rides, shopping for the unique local handicrafts and sighting the rare wild ass found in the little Rann of Kutch sanctuary. People who are inhabited here are nomadic, semi nomadic and artisan tribes who contribute to the rich folk art.
