Aithor is a large village on the banks of the River Pasupavati, spread over an area of 3000 hectares, with a population of around 12,000. This 2500 year-village was previously known as Aravati Nagari and then Aydhi Nagari before it came to be known as Aithor Name. It falls under the Unjha taluka of Mehsana district (30km.s from Mehsana). It has a 4 school buildings with classes up to the secondary level. The ssc board is situated at Unjha. In keeping with an age-old tradition, the festival of Ganesh Chhaath sees the staging of traditional plays called bhavai which is performed by an all-male cast (they perform the role of women as well).
