After 135 km on the highway of Ahmedabad to Rajkot, as we leave Limbdi and soon we come across the huge billboard of 'Old Bell Guest House', we can take it that this is the old principality of Sayla.
In 1751 Sheshmalji ruled this land. The grandeur of the Old Bell Guest House, built originally to cater to the honored English guests by the large-hearted ruler is indeed overwhelming. A little away from the Sayla city, it is now given the rank of a Heritage Hotel and is situated in the center of a vast landscaped area land of 23 acres. The present prince Somrajsinh points out the natural beauty that surrounds it, the huge garden with lawns, with a central fountain with the layout of chess sections. There are 10 fully air conditioned rooms with modem facilities here. In the vast Dining Room here, you may order not just Gujarati or North Indian and South Indian food, but also Continental and Chinese cuisines. So, a tourist from any place in the country can enjoy the variety of delicious dishes
During your stay here you can pay a visit to the nearby places of pilgrimage, i.e. Chamunda temple of Chotila and H~muman temple at Salangpur. Nal Saorvar and Lothal are also quite nearby. The mangers of this heritage hotel can arrange this small tour for you very easily.
It is really a unique place from where you can have glimpses of the past at Lothal, that dates back to 4500 years. This is the only place where the structural remains of our Indus Civilization are found in the whole country
